March Serenity

It takes extra effort to attend a midweek Serenity retreat, which makes the sacrifice of time all the more satisfying. "Father Jerry" conducted our retreat, building his reflections around the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis.

Following are some of the retreatants' reflections on their experience:

The retreat gives me time to reflect and gather my thoughts. This time it allowed me to sleep.

This is a time to be fully immersed in the program.

I enjoyed the topic of Saint Francis Peace Prayer, and how Father Jerry tied it in with the program.

There’s lots of sobriety here. It’s fun.

This retreat has been a peaceful three day journey. I was given everything I needed to become at Peace with myself and the world. This was a reflection of my year. I think every one needs a Franciscan Retreat; the world would be a better place.

It is time to learn and to grow and rethink my thinking. God works in our lives through other people. I can always see that happening while here on a retreat.

This is a renewal, a planning session for my year of recovery. I commune with nature and old and new friends.

Father Jerry is very easy to relate to, very knowledgeable and low key.

I come here to learn about my disease and myself, but more I come to the safety and hospitality of a sacred place. It is nice to come here year after year, to find comfort and companionship.

I like Father Jerry’s passion in what he says, both in and out of chapel.

The food is very good and plentiful and Judy seems very pleasant.

I am sorry I had a cold on this retreat and took extra time to sleep, but I was so surprised everyone encouraged me to sleep. Sometimes that is how we de-stress on retreat.

Wonderful, state of the art meals, like in a fine restaurant.

Thanks again for bringing your gifted self to this retreat. We'll look forward to your return next year, March 11-13, 2008!
